A large number of Israeli citizens protested against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday amid Israel's six-month war against Hamas in Gaza. The protesters are demanding Prime Minister Netanyahu's resignation and early elections in the country. The protesters called for the release of those held hostage by Hamas. Protesters will take to the streets again on Sunday and a rally is planned in Jerusalem. Israel's war against Hamas in Gaza entered its seventh month on Sunday. Along with this, opposition to the Netanyahu government is intensifying. On Saturday, once again a large number of people took to the streets and demonstrated. Protesters are now demanding early elections. With regard to this demand, they held rallies in many other cities including the capital and shouted slogans demanding Netanyahu's resignation. Israel's opposition leader Yer Lapid took part in one such rally and addressed the protesters saying that they will not let this country move forward until we send them home. According to Israeli figures, the Hamas attack killed 1,170 people in southern Israel, most of them civilians. While Israel's counterattack against Hamas has killed at least 33,137 people in Gaza, according to the Hamas-run territory's health ministry. On October 7, terrorists took about 250 Israelis and foreign nationals hostage. The military says 129 people are still trapped in Gaza, including 34 people who are presumed dead.
