Ms Sanehpreet Basra, a daughter of national hockey player and alumnus of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) Sardar Harjinder Singh Basra, has won laurels at the international level by being adjudged as the “2023 U SPORTS Field Hockey Player of the Year” during the All-Canadian Awards Ceremony held for U SPORTS Women’s Field Hockey Championship in Toronto. Ms Basra of UBC Thunderbirds clinched “2023 Liz Hoffman Award” as the U SPORTS women field hockey player of the year. As per the U SPORTS, “Sanehpreet Basra was a force for the Thunderbirds all season, as the fourth-year midfielder showed tremendous vision in creating dangerous attacks, while also playing superb and reliable defense. Basra’s composure in even the tensest situations helped settle the team when it mattered most.”

Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor, PAU; Dr Nirmal Singh Jaura, Director Students’ Welfare; and Dr TS Riar, Additional Director Communication, congratulated Ms Basra for carrying forward the legacy and following in the footsteps of her father who had equally bagged several awards in hockey as PAU alumnus.
