In total, 28 rural youths participated in the three-month training course on “Integrated Crop Production” which concluded successfully at the Skill Development Centre of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) today. The course was organized for the 129^th batch of the young farmers, who showed keen interest in learning the technical know-how of agriculture and allied occupations.

            Dr GS Buttar, Director of Extension Education, who was the chief guest at the concluding function, said that agriculture was indispensable as majority of state and country’s population was dependent on it for livelihood and food as well as nutritional security. With rapid growth in farm mechanization and enough spare time available, youths should not waste their talent and time but rather make apt use of both by practicing allied agri-enterprises for economic sustainability, he added. “PAU has always been at the disposal of agricultural community and will continue to be there for their (farmers’) prosperity,” he stated.

            Dr Rupinder Kaur, Associate Director (Skill Development), said that the course would help the youths in carving a niche for themselves in agriculture by bringing in innovation and doubling income through the adoption of subsidiary occupations.  

            The Co-coordinator Dr Lavleesh Garg shared tips for marketing of agricultural produce and processed food products.

Dr Prerna Kapila, Course Coordinator, presented the report of three-month activities and lauded the zeal of youths for engaging in agriculture and allied enterprises as profession. Later, she proposed a vote of thanks.

            Mrs Kanwaljit kaur, Ms Sneha Latta, Mr Ashish Sharma and PAU experts imparted theoretical and practical training in all the agriculture related activities.  

Integrated Crop Production Training Course Concludes At Pau
