Russian people expressed confidence in Putin

In the presidential elections held in Russia, the public has expressed its confidence in the outgoing President Vladimir V. Putin. Russia's election commission has said that Putin is in the lead in preliminary results. He got 88 percent votes. According to the report of American newspaper The New York Times, Vladimir V. Putin, who is going to become President for the fifth time after getting a huge lead in the elections, addressed his supporters on national television on Sunday. Putin also addressed the public on national television from his election headquarters. During this time, he also broke his silence on the death of opposition leader Alexei Navalny and called it an "unfortunate incident". He said, he did not face any kind of competition in the elections. Earlier, the Election Commission of Russia announced that Putin had got 88 percent of the votes. Meanwhile, Putin supporters are celebrating victory in Moscow. Political pundits say that Putin may have become a pariah in most parts of the western world, but the elections have proved that the people of Russia love him immensely.
