Now the pairing of American 'Apache' and indigenous 'Prachanda' combat helicopters will create a new atmosphere in the sky. The Indian Air Force has already established the first squadron of indigenous 'Prachanda' in Jodhpur but now the Army Aviation Corps of the Indian Army is also going to establish its first squadron of Apache attack helicopters in Jodhpur on March 15. The first helicopters of this unit are expected to arrive from America in May this year. The Indian Army has signed a contract to acquire six Apache helicopters from the US. The Indian Air Force already relies on American company Boeing's Apache attack helicopters, which is why the Air Force signed a contract with the US government and Boeing Limited in September 2015 for 22 Apache helicopters. The Air Force deployed eight Apache attack helicopters at Pathankot airbase in September 2019. Despite being capable of carrying powerful and heavy weapons, they are not able to work at full capacity in high altitude areas due to their heavy weight. That is why, in view of the need for light combat helicopters, the Air Force had formed the first 'Dhanush' squadron of multi-role light combat helicopter 'Prachanda' in Jodhpur last year. Similarly, in 2017, the Defense Ministry had approved the purchase of six Apache helicopters with weapons for the Army at a cost of Rs 4168 crore. The Indian Army's Army Aviation Corps is expected to receive Apache helicopters from the US in May this year but the army is going to raise its first squadron of Apache combat helicopters in Jodhpur on March 15. The name of this squadron has not been disclosed but the first batch of helicopters received from America will be deployed in this squadron of Jodhpur. Apache has been designed for the army in such a way that it is capable of attacking by penetrating the enemy's fortifications and penetrating into its territory. The indigenous 'Prachanda' squadron of the Air Force and the squadron of Apache combat helicopters of the Indian Army will work together in Jodhpur in the western sector on the Pakistani border. With both the squadrons being at the same place, the fighter pair of American 'Apache' and indigenous 'Prachanda' will blossom in the sky. Apache combat helicopter can test its flying range by firing 16 anti-tank missiles in a flying range of 550 kilometers. It is designed to attack the enemy like a hawk and escape safely. The guns mounted below the helicopter can load 1,200 30 mm bullets at a time. The Apache can fly for up to 2:45 hours at a time.
