Rajiv Gandhi assassination case convict Santhan's body reached Sri Lanka for last rites

The body of Santhan, one of the convicts in the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, was brought to Colombo on Friday for the last rites. He died of heart failure in a Chennai hospital two days ago. Sri Lankan Santhan alias T Suthendirraja (55) was one of the seven people who were released by the Supreme Court in 2022. Santhan had spent more than 20 years in jail for the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi in the bomb blast in Sriperumbudur on May 21, 1991. Santhan was admitted to a government hospital in Chennai last month after his liver failed and he died of heart failure on February 28.
