Sports play a vital role in holistic development of youthndashArora Cabinet Minister Sanjiv Arora on Sunday inaugurated the Punjab State Sub-Junior Badminton Championship 2025-26 at Shastri Badminton Hall, Guru Nanak Stadium. Organised by the Interim Committee, the four-day championship will conclude on November 5. The championship features over 700 players (boys and girls) under the age of 15 and 17 from 20 districts, competing in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles events. Matches are being held simultaneously at Shastri Badminton Hall and Sutlej Club. Addressing the gathering, Minister Arora highlighted the transformative role of sports in shaping young minds. ldquoSports go beyond physical fitness they foster discipline, teamwork, perseverance, and character building,rdquo he said. He commended the Interim Committee and sponsors for their efforts in successfully hosting the event. Arora reiterated the Punjab governmentrsquos commitment, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, to promote sports across the state. ldquoSports keep our youth physically fit and mentally strong, steering them away from the menace of drugs,rdquo he added. He also thanked Vardhman Special Steels Limited and other sponsors for their efforts. Among the dignitaries present were ADC Amarjit Bains, Sachit Jain (Vardhman Special Steels Limited), Interim Committee Member Secretary Sulbha Jindal, International Coach Mangat Rai Sharma, District Sports Officer Kuldeep Chugh, Gagan Kapila, Dheeraj Sharma, Vilas Hans, Varun Kumar, Inderpal Singh, Navdeep Singh, Sarbjeet Singh, Avtar Singh, Sanjiv Goel, Vipan Mittal, Sandeep Gupta, Anand Tiwari, Rajesh Gandhi, Rajeev Bhumbla, Jaswinder Singh, Sahil Gupta, and Pranav Goel.
