On International Women's Day, March 8, 2024, Ambala Division of Northern Railway showcased women's participation in the railway sector by operating a Special Pink Goods Train (Power No. 27081, 58+1 BOXN Coal Rack, originating from Shivpur, East Central Railway). This train, completely managed by women, traveled from Ambala Cantt Railway Station to Ludhiana Railway Station. Among those present were Additional Divisional Railway Manager, Hanuman Prasad, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager/FS, Dr. Ritika Vashisht, and other railway officials.
The goods train departed from Ambala Cantt station at 10:55 hrs and arrived at Ludhiana at 14:45 hrs. It was operated by Loco Pilot, Manorama, Assistant Loco Pilot, Kriti, and Train Manager, Manisha. This symbolic initiative by Ambala Division highlights women empowerment and their increasing involvement in the Railways, contributing to its advancement.
Additionally, on this occasion, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar Mohali Railway Station of Northern Railway, Ambala Division, was designated as a Pink Station. The station was fully managed by women railway personnel across commercial, operations, security, and other departments, showcasing their dedication and commitment to their roles.
