Teej was celebrated with great pomp and show at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana. Female members of the university gathered at Dr Jasmer Singh Hall to celebrate the festivities. Mrs. Pawanjeet Kaur Gill, better half of Dr JPS Gill, Vice chancellor was the chief guest for the occasion. Mrs. Manju Sharma, wife of Registrar, Vet Varsity and Mrs. Gurjinder Kaur Brar, wife of Director Research were the guests of honour. Ladies recited traditional songs and danced with the beats of Punjabi Dhol. Different types of competitions were organised. The women folk won prizes like Most Beautifully attired Punjaban Mutiyaar, Best dancer, Lammi Gut (longest hair), Longest ear rings, gorgeous Punjabi jutti and many others. Phulkaris, bangles and other gifts were presented to the guests and prize winners. This vibrant festival is a rendezvous of women to celebrate the goodness of Sawan month during the monsoon season to take a break from the routine work for a collective recreation. Participants danced on traditional music and applied Mehndi, signifying marital bliss, prosperity and the beauty of nature during the monsoon.
