The Golden Jubilee celebration of Dr. D.N. Kotnis Acupuncture Hospital, Salem Tabri was celebrated with great enthusiasm. Doctors, acupuncturists, NGOs, politicians, and dignitaries from across the country and Punjab honoured Dr. Inderjit Singh. To obtain recognition for the acupuncture treatment system in Punjab and to get approval for opening an acupuncture degree college, a delegation of MLAs will soon meet the Chief Minister of the state, S. Bhagwant Singh Mann. This was stated by the ruling party AAPrsquos senior MLAs, Mr. Chaudhary Madan Lal Bagga (Ludhiana North) and Mr. Sardar Daljit Singh Bhola Grewal (Ludhiana East) while addressing the Golden Jubilee function organized at Dr. D.N. Kotnis Acupuncture Hospital, Salem Tabri, Ludhiana. MLA Mr. Bagga said that the Punjab government is already providing excellent health services to the common people through Mohalla Clinics, and that acupuncture is an effective treatment method for both common and severe diseases without any side effects. Praising Dr. Inderjit Singh, he said that for the last 50 years he has devoted himself selflessly to the service of humanity, and it is a matter of immense pride that the acupuncture hospital lies within his North constituency. He requested Dr. Singh to prepare a proposal for getting acupuncture recognized, so that it can soon be brought to the notice of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann and the common people and students across Punjab can benefit from it. MLA Mr. Grewal also supported the acupuncture treatment method in terms of healthcare and academics, stating that in the hospitalrsquos Golden Jubilee year, it must receive recognition. He added that a request will be made to Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann to grant it recognition and to include acupuncture treatment in Mohalla Clinics as well. On this occasion, special guests from the Chinese Embassy mdash Mr. Wang Xingming (Minister Cultural Counsellor), Mr. Jiang Hailin (First Secretary), and Mr. Xu Ning (Attacheacute) mdash attended. They were welcomed with bouquets by MLA Mr. Bagga, MLA Mr. Bhola Grewal, Bhai Ranjit Singh Maskin (Patna Sahib wale), Mr. Ankit Srivastava (Under Secretary, Ministry of Social Justice, Government of India), along with members of the management committee Medical Superintendent Dr. Inderjit Singh Dhingra, Dr. G.S. Makkar (President), General Secretary Mr. Iqbal Singh Gill (IPS), Dr. Sandeep Chopra, Dr. Chetna Chopra, Mr. Ashwani Verma, Mr. K.R. Sikri (Advocate), Mr. Jagdish Sidana, Mr. Jaswant Singh Chhapa, Colonel H.S. Kahlo, Councillor Aman Bagga, and others. Minister Cultural Counsellor Mr. Wang Xingming recalled the sacrifices and invaluable services of great Indian doctors Dr. Dwarkanath Kotnis and Dr. Bijoy Kumar Basu towards China, saying that the Chinese government and its people can never forget their contributions. Praising Dr. Inderjit Singh for carrying forward the humanitarian mission of Dr. Kotnis and Dr. Basu, he said that the hospital and Dr. Singh have made significant contributions to the development and promotion of acupuncture in India. He said that the Chinese government will continue to extend every possible support to this mission of serving humanity through acupuncture. Acupuncturists trained in China will be sent to India to train Indian youth, and Indian youth will also be able to go to China for training. With direct flights now operating between China and India, cultural exchange programs will be further strengthened. He also announced that the Chinese Ambassador will soon visit Ludhiana to tour the Kotnis Hospital. Giani Ranjit Singh Maskin (Patna Sahib wale) said that acupuncture is a side-effect-free, inexpensive, and accessible treatment system and people of the country should fully benefit from it. Dr. Inderjit Singh, while recalling the 50-year journey of the hospital and acupuncture, expressed gratitude to every individual, governments, their representatives, and the Chinese government for their cooperation. He said that the time has come to develop acupuncture not only as a healthcare system but also academically. Since the complete infrastructure is already available here, the Punjab government can start a degree college without any financial burden. Earlier, the Chinese delegation and Councillor Aman Bagga inspected the hospitalrsquos OPD and interacted with patients undergoing acupuncture treatment. The patients said that they had obtained relief from chronic and serious health issues through acupuncture. On this occasion, Retd. Colonel H.S.
